WHAT IS THE CYPRESS POST?

IN THE BEGINNING...

Baradine’s community newspaper, the ‘Cypress Post’ originated as a project of the Country Areas Program (C.A.P) and was established and run by Baradine Central School under the guidance of Vicki French.

When C.A.P funding was withdrawn, a local committee was formed to take over the publication of the paper. The paper was run on a purely voluntary basis by Baradine Central School Desktop Publishing students, supervised again by Vicki French. While the paper eventually ceased publication at the end of the 90’s, such was the popularity of the paper that it was revived again in July 2001 by the Baradine Progress Association and is produced by a small band of dedicated community volunteers.

The Cypress Post... informing, entertaining and promoting Baradine and district.

THE CYPRESS POST TODAY

The ‘Cypress Post’ has taken on a completely new look and style than that of its previous incarnations, with up-to-the-minute local news items, including political and environmental issues, coverage of events from around the area, regular columns from community organisation representatives, updates on the activities of both St. John’s and Baradine Central Schools, sporting results, life-style and entertainment pages for all the family, public notices, advertising from local business houses, clubs and organisations and personal classifieds.

The ‘Cypress Post’ is co-ordinated by Editor, chief reporter and photographer, Elizabeth Cutts. The paper is published every Wednesday fortnight and is available at Wangman's Newspower Newsagency and the Gwabegar Post Office for the purchase price of a gold coin donation.
